We used to carve our initials in that old walnut tree outside my house
and sit in it for hours, pretending to be mermaids, scientists
or two girls with a telescope and a treasure map.
Tying baskets and papers to the branches
that was our favorite place when we were younger.

and I'm never coming down!
still haven't come down from that tree.
